About
My name is Caitlin and I am a Veterinary Surgeon working within South Wales.
I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2014 and have gained a wealth of experience working in different settings ranging from busy first opinion veterinary hospitals, smaller branch surgeries, and at an ‘out of hours’ referral hospital focusing on emergency and critical care patients. I was born in Cardiff and grew up surrounded by animals which is how I developed my passion to be a vet.
I often get asked if putting a pet to sleep is the hardest part of my job. The answer is no.
I’m actually entirely grateful that it is a service we, as vets, are able to offer our beloved animal companions. To be able to give them a comfortable passing and relieve them from the pain of injury, illness or old age. Our pets give their lives to us, with an abundance of love and friendship. Allowing them to pass in a comfortable and dignified manner should be our last gift to them.
There are benefits
to saying goodbye at home
Your pet will be in their favourite environment, surrounded by comfort and familiarity. They will feel calm and at ease in their final moments, and you will feel unrushed and reassured that you have made the right decision for your pet.
Many people opt for home euthanasia as clinics can often be busy and noisy which can increase stress for both you and your pet, especially during such a sensitive time. Some vet practices are unable to offer a home visit service. Forget Me Not Pets was created to be able to offer this service should you require it.
