Option 4 – A Priceless Gift
Free Private Cremation

With this option, you may choose to donate your pet’s body after euthanasia. In doing so, you’ll be helping veterinary professionals develop essential surgical skills that go on to save and improve the lives of countless other pets. It’s a meaningful way for your pet to leave a lasting legacy of care and kindness.

As a heartfelt thank you, you’ll receive a free private cremation, with your pet’s ashes returned within six months. Or, if you choose not to have the ashes back, a donation will be made to a charity of your choice—spreading your pet’s legacy even further.

  • An optional after-care service from Forget Me Not Pets.

A gentle, meaningful way to honour your pet’s life while helping other animals.

Through Improve International’s “A Priceless Gift” programme, you may choose to donate your pet’s body after euthanasia. This veterinary education programme allows your beloved companion’s passing to help sick animals in the future, enabling qualified vets to refine essential surgical skills and develop new procedures that directly benefit patients in their clinics.

Your pet will be treated with the utmost respect and dignity at every stage.

    A simple overview:

    • Donate your pet’s body to help veterinary surgeons develop life-saving skills to help other pets.

    • Free private cremation with ashes hand-delivered within 6 months (£25 delivery fee applies).

    • If you would prefer not to have ashes returned, a £70 donation to a charity of choice will be made in your pet's name.

    • Keepsakes including an Ink Paw Print, Ink Nose Print (dog only) and/or Fur Clipping on request, posted by Royal Mail Recorded Delivery following the visit (£10 admin and postage fee applies).

This option is ideal for families who wish to give back and receive a private cremation without the usual cost.

  • Talk it through
Before or during your home visit, we’ll gently explain the programme and complete a simple consent form. You’ll choose whether you'd like your pet’s ashes returned, or for a charity donation to be made instead.

    Share their story
You’re warmly invited to tell us about your pet’s favourite walks, toys, treats, or little quirks. These cherished details are shared with the veterinary delegates so they understand the much-loved companion they’re learning from.

    Care & collection
Your pet is respectfully prepared and safely stored until collected by Improve International.

    Keepsakes
We can take an ink paw print, ink nose print (dogs only), and/or a fur clipping following the visit. These are sent to you by Royal Mail Recorded Delivery.

    Teaching
Vets use your pet’s generous gift to develop and refine essential surgical techniques that go on to save the lives of countless other pets.

    Private cremation or donation
After teaching is complete, Improve International arranges a private cremation at no cost to you.

    • If you choose ashes: They will be hand-delivered within six months in either a Beech Wooden Casket with a name plaque, or a scatter tube—whichever you prefer.

    • If you prefer not to receive ashes: Your pet will join a Shared Journey Cremation, and Improve International will donate £70 to a charity of your choice in your pet’s name.

Tribute page – You’re welcome to add your pet’s name and photo to Improve International’s online tribute page—a heartfelt way to honour the difference they’ve made.

    • Microchip required
Your pet must have a microchip implanted (we can implant one free of charge following the visit if needed). The chip is used to track them throughout the process to ensure ashes are correctly identified.

    • Medical history
We request a brief medical and surgical history from your usual vet to help determine which teaching courses your pet can support.

    • Eligibility

      • Accepted species: dogs 5–35 kg and owned cats.

      • Exclusions include very underweight or obese pets, puppies or kittens, stray cats, pets with certain illnesses (e.g. parvovirus or other zoonotic diseases), pets with extensive injuries, or pets recently treated with chemotherapy or radioactive iodine.

    • Final decision
Once your pet has been collected, your choice of private cremation or charitable donation cannot be changed.

    • Time frame
Individual cremation is arranged by Improve International and ashes are usually returned within six months in a Beech Casket with name plaque, or scatter tube.

    • Not an organ donation service
This programme involves whole-body donation for veterinary training only.

  • Cremation is provided free of charge through the Priceless Gift Programme.

We simply ask for a £25 delivery fee for the personal hand-delivery of ashes, and a £10 fee for keepsakes to cover postage and materials.
